Boo! Made you jump! As we move towards the end of the month, plans for Halloween are likely to be in full swing. Deciding which costume to wear for a Halloween party or for taking the children trick or treating can often be a challenge! To save the stress of trawling the shops to find an outfit in the right style or size, it’s much more fun to pull together a few items that most of us have in our homes, along with a few props or items that can be found in charity shops or in online stores like eBay and Amazon to create a truly fun and unique outfit! In this article, we do a round up of some of the best homemade costumes ready to have a spoooookily good time this Halloween!

  1. Vampire/Vampiress

Get those bats ready for flight and fangs sharpened at the ready! Nothing beats a traditional costume such as a Vampire or Vampiress. Trawl the wardrobe for white shirts, long black coats and some black fabric or blanket to make a cape. Add a dash of fake blood to your fangs and form your hair into a black widow’s peak – you can use some temporary black hair dye if you are feeling brave or add a bit of talcum powder to your hair if you want it to look greyer and you are ready to go. Check out Spruce Crafts for some great Vampire costume tips, they even have some fake blood recipes – very gory!

  1. Unicorn

There’s no denying it – unicorns are everywhere at the moment! A bang on trend unicorn costume will add a colourful, fun aspect to Halloween, avoiding the more ghoulish options. Perfect for little ones and grown ups alike. Here’s a great felt unicorn costume tutorial from hellowonderful.co that involves no sewing – result!

  1. Bat

Forgotten that invite to a Halloween party and only got 10 minutes? Never fear, a quick and easy bat costume tutorial is here!
