Home Style Trends for 2023 | Lovelle

As we start our new year full of potential and new beginnings, many of us will be looking to redecorate or update our homes. As a nation, we do love to spend time personalising our homes and keeping up with the latest home style trends. If you are thinking about updating your décor in 2023, in this article we review the home style trend predictions for 2023 and hopefully give you some great ideas and inspiration.

Flawsome Sustainability

As you would expect, sustainability is at the forefront of interior style for this year. Designers are continuing to adopt a reduce, reuse, recycle ethos and the results are beautiful to behold. Now dubbed Flawsome by the industry, the concept is perfectly imperfect. Rather than throw away marred, chip or damaged items, repairing, reusing and rescuing from landfill are the top design trends for the year.

For a great resource for designer fabrics and accessories that are saved from landfill head over to Haines. Etsy is also a great resource for gorgeous unique repurposed items.

Become Flawsome

If you are looking for a new hobby this year, why not combine updating your home style with a new pastime? There are so many online guides and tutorials for reusing, recycling and repurposing home furnishings. Be careful though, you may find yourself more than slightly addicted to sustainability design and might soon find yourself with an upcycling project of your own, sitting half finished in your garage!

Marble

Popular during 2022, marble will no doubt continue to feature heavily during 2023. Marble is a great material, it is hard wearing, easy to clean and opulent but also very expensive. When adding marble to your home, think about creating a statement piece. We loved these handmade green onyx marble coasters available on Amazon, the colouring and marbling is simply gorgeous! No matter what table you put them on they will just “go”.

If you’re looking for a wow factor in your bathroom then take a look at this marble sink from Riluxa now that is opulence personified! If your budget, like mine, doesn’t quite stretch to include real marble, then take a look at this wonderful marble effect sink from Victorian Plumbing, beautiful!

Noir

Decorilla are predicting a return of Noir for 2023. Noir is not just about heavy black pieces, think arched mirrors, large dramatic lamps and chandeliers, think layering, sculptures and opulent fabrics.

White Kitchen

Country living are predicting a return of the all white kitchen. The resurgence of this style has derived from us all spending more time at home and the desire to have our space light, airy and spacious. White of course, reflects light so will make rooms feel much bigger and lighter, we can certainly see the appeal!

Weirdcore

Whilst the name doesn’t sound particularly attractive, we love the idea of uniqueness and permission to be completely expressive behind the Weirdcore ethos. Weirdcore is a retro style which comes from the low tech and rather amateurish photo editing that was used when the internet first grew in popularity in the late 1990’s. The 2023 trend can be classed as a little surreal, definitely offbeat and perhaps a little creepy and combines anything from psychedelic wallpaper to mushroom lamps. The motto is “anything but ordinary”. This bed throw from Red Bubble sums up Weirdcore perfectly. How about this Mushroom lamp from Etsy? We bet you never thought a mushroom could look cool!

Molten curves

In 2022 curves were the must have shapes for pretty much anything. This is evolving into 2023 into molten curves. The style trend is heading towards curved recess and alcoves, wavy wallpapers and wonderfully wonky home accessories. This style is much more organic and living than manufactured curves and is designed to give a sense of movement and natural forms. Take, for example, these mirrors from Oliver Bonas. Although curved there is nothing regular about the shape, giving it a sense of nature. We really liked this vase from Graham and Green too, personifying the perfectly imperfect sustainability theme. See how everything just looks as if it had started to melt and flow a little giving a real sense of fluidity?

Bespoke Rooms

From designer mud rooms, to listening rooms, craft rooms and bespoke utility rooms, 2023 seems to be the year that designers are predicting ultra-personalised rooms will become popular. Good Housekeeping are featuring craft rooms and listening rooms in their 2023 style trends, whereas Ideal Home are predicting a continuation of home entertaining and are focusing on spaces in which to entertain. Meanwhile Decorilla are predicting designer laundry and mud room makeovers will be at the forefront of home style priorities.

Clearly everyone’s taste is different and there are so many different ways to decorate and accessorise your home, we hope that these ideas have given you food for thought when it comes to your makeover plans for 2023. Whatever style or tend you decide upon, make sure you take time to sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labour.
